Waise toh, our Bollywood stars are super-smart. From choosing the right script to bagging the best endorsement deals, they know how to stay on top of the game.
But that is not to say these actors are above and beyond mistakes. There have been times when some of the movies they rejected -- for whatever the reason -- went on to become super-hits.
Here's a dekko at 2015's examples. Read on...
BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN

Rejected By: Aamir Khan
Accepted By: Salman Khan
Directed by Kabir Khan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan was a bumper hit. The film saw Salman stepping out of action genre after long and it won him a lot of appreciation.
Everyone was surprised when Aamir later said that the movie was first offered to him. Seems, he refused and referred Sallu's name instead. Well, it was indeed a big loss for Mr Perfectionist.
PIKU

Rejected By: Parineeti Chopra
Accepted By: Deepika Padukone
Deepika wowed the masses and critics alike with her flawless acting in Shoojit Sircar's Piku. Her on-screen chemistry with Irrfan Khan and the father-daughter relationship with Amitabh Bachchan made everyone go 'Awwww'. The film was initially offered to Parineeti, who turned it down citing date issues. Well, P's loss was D's gain.
BAHUBALI

Rejected By: Hrithik Roshan & John Abraham
Accepted By: Prabhas & Rana Dagubatti
S. S. Rajamouli's Bahubali was the mega blockbuster of 2015. The movie became a huge sensation not only in India, but also overseas. Rajamouli had first approached Hrithik for the role that was eventually played by Prabhas. We hear, Hrithik and John played cat-and-mouse after reading the script!
BAJIRAO MASTANI

Rejected By: Salman Khan
Accepted By: Ranveer Singh
Salman had a massive year with Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which collectively earned more than Rs 500 crore at the box-office. Had he said 'Yes' to Peshwa Bajirao's role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, Bhai would have scored a hat-trick.
For those who have forgotten, Salman and Aishwarya Rai were Bhansali's original choices to play the title roles--- but that didn't work out for obvious reasons.
Later, the director wanted Kareena Kapoor to be his Mastani, but Bebo and Sallu went on to feature in Priyadarshan's Kyon Ki (2005). Now, this miffed Bhansali as he wanted their jodi to be fresh.
DIL DHADAKNE DO

Rejected By: Ranbir Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor
Accepted By: Ranveer Singh - Priyanka Chopra
Zoya Akhtar wanted real-life siblings Ranbir and Kareena for Dil Dhadakne Do, but the Tamasha actor didn't have dates and he opted out. Soon after, Kareena also walked out of the project as she wanted to do the film only with her brother. Finally, Zoya approached Ranveer and Priyanka and the result was an amazing film.
DIL DHADAKNE DO

Rejected By: Hrithik Roshan
Accepted By: Aamir Khan
Hrithik had worked in Zoya's Luck By Chance and she wanted him to lend his voice to Pluto Mehra (the dog) in DDD. However, he was reportedly too busy to take it up. The filmmaker, we hear, was miffed big time and approached Aamir. The latter didn't think twice before saying a 'Yes' and must say, it was a god decision -- Pluto was the most loved character in DDD.
DIL DHADAKNE DO

Rejected By: Madhuri Dixit & Sridevi
Accepted By: Shefali Shah
Casting for DDD was a big task for Zoya, as most of her original choices turned the film down. She wanted either Madhuri Dixit or Sridevi to play Ranveer and Priyanka's mom, but both weren't keen to play mom to grown-up kids. Shefali, however, had no such hang-ups and went on to give a stellar performance.
